Oak Moth discovered in London

Oak Processionary Moth caterpillars have been discovered in Bromley in South-East London, nine miles from the nearest known infestation, leading the Forestry Commission to conclude that it is a separate outbreak.

A group of infested oak trees were cordoned off and other trees in the area are now surveyed for signs of infestation.

The caterpillars have tiny hairs which cause allergic rashes, itchy eyes and breathing difficulties.

Report a suspected OPM infestation in your area to the Forestry Commission on 01420 222 55.
